Why Therapy?

“Sometimes the bravest and most important thing you can do is just show up.”
— Brene Brown, PhD, LMSW

People seek therapy to reduce their suffering or to increase their fulfillment. In our work together, we will accomplish both. You deserve a happy, balanced life.

Most of us want to have happy and healthy relationships; experience joy, and calm; feel motivated and effective in our endeavors; and trust that we have the tools to handle what life might present to us even after therapy is over.

Ask yourself some of the questions below to see if therapy might be helpful to you.

  • Do you have trouble finding joy, even when things seem to be going "okay" in your life?

  • Do you have difficulty telling people how you feel, even though you would really like to be closer to them?

  • Do you find yourself shutting down your feelings to avoid being overwhelmed by them?

  • Do you find that coping skills that once worked are no longer effective for you?

  • Do you often feel that you are not enough?

Let's talk. It’s time to understand and make sense of your experience.

Deciding to start therapy is a sign of your wholeness. I believe that we all have the ability to heal and grow. I’ll help you identify and address patterns and underlying issues to create lasting, meaningful change. To ensure your needs are being met, we’ll work together to learn how to clearly communicate with others and create healthy boundaries.

I am grateful for your trust in being a part of your journey of self-discovery and growth.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

EMDR is a therapy approach that helps our brain reprocess past, recent, and present-day experiences that continue to cause distress. EMDR is a highly effective, extensively researched, and evidenced-based therapy that helps people recover from trauma and difficult life experiences. The negative effects of these events can linger for years. Healing occurs by targeting the distressing memories, beliefs, emotions, and physical symptoms rooted in a disturbing experience and moving through the phases of EMDR.

Let’s discuss how EMDR can help you. There is a path to healing and peace.

3. Be prepared. Check your internet connection. Make sure your device is charged or your charger is near. Headphones are encouraged, but not required.

5. Get comfy. Snuggle up with your favorite blanket, or a warm cup of coffee or tea. Have tissues available.
